After The Leaves

The trees have given beauty

with leaves of emerald green

through the summer days

with storms that they have seen.

As the daylight fades

and the seasons change

the colors from the spectrum

will slowly rearrange.

From their emerald green

to yellow orange and red

they drift down to the ground

where creatures rest their head.

After the leaves have fallen

they change to brown and gray

while showing us how growth

builds strength along the way.

Let the leaves of life

fall like pages from a book

some rest on the ground

some float down a brook.

The wind will come along

and scatter all the leaves

to places far away

from a tree that never grieves.

A new season of growth

is released into the wind

as you look into the forest

the trees they look so thinned.
