Branches Are Bare

Branches are bare

as all the leaves fall,

a skeleton stands

so slender and tall.

Strong to the roots

to fight off the wind,

as i look from a distance

the forest looks thinned.

Only bare branches

just brown and grey,

collecting the frost

to put on a display.

The season is changing

as the days they go by,

with a chill in the air

and not a cloud in the sky.

The blue sky’s a backdrop

for the beauty I see,

the branches are bare

you have given to me.

Help me stay strong

in the season ahead,

with the cold winter wind

and the beauty you send.
